Our meeting had a few more finds on the table
compared to previous months as the crops are now
slowly starting to come off, not helped by the rain this
year I might add! I hope the farmers manage to salvage
what is left of the wheat down here in Kent!

After a short talk by our chairman Keith, who I will
add does a great job for the club! we then held our
monthly competition with the following results.

July 2011

July's meeting was fairly well attended, considering we are all struggling to find land to go on currently due to the crops still on the fields, but soon as always we will be spoilt for choice and rushing around trying to cover our favourite patches before they are seeded
again! No speaker this month, so after a short talk by our chairman Keith, we then held the find of the month competition, with the following results.

At this months meeting Jen Jackson our FLO was present, she brought back some interesting items from recording and took away several others to list on the finds database, we as a club fully support the voluntary recording of all finds and she was kept busy for most of the night!

We then held the find of the month competition with the following results, one item of note was young Callum's first hammered and he is only 12, so well done to him!

March's meeting was busy as usual with plenty of finds on the table, one of our newest members, Nicola, did well coming second with her buckle. With no speaker this month we settled down to the 'Find of the month' competition, with the following results.

This months meeting was as usual well attended, we had some lovely finds on the table, Keith's late Iron
Age terret ring and Nigel's penannular brooch, also late Iron Age were exceptional! and very rare finds indeed,
along with Dorian's gold guinea, what a cracker! A brilliant month was had by all! The full results were as follows.

December 2010
This month we held our annual find of the year competition with some lovely items on the table
to vote for, the Saxon period was at the top of the pile with an English Thrymsa winning for Paul and
Steve coming second with an Aethelberht penny which has a unrecorded reverse making it unique!

Bryan came first in the artefact section with his lovely 7th century Saxon mount, a cracking find,
Albert second with a rare Bronze Age decorated jet bead.

Steve also won the find of the year competition with 62 points, with Pete coming second with 34
points, let's hope next year continues to produce the quality of finds that this year has, good luck to all!.

This months meeting was a busy affair, with most fields now available after the harvest the finds table was full, and the competition fierce! Our club land again coming up trumps for many members, no guest speaker this month, so after the chairman's speech we settled down to the find of the month competition with the results as follows.

This months meeting was a quieter affair with little or no land currently available, but the star of the finds table was Bryan Becker's stunning mid Saxon mount, fully gilded with entwined beasts and a human face mask at the top! currently undergoing professional cleaning! so well done mate!
